Ontario insurance brokers are expected to make professional decisions that protect the interests of their clients, maintain public confidence, and uphold the standards of the profession.
This course examines the ethical standards that govern an Ontario insurance broker’s daily decisions and the professional conduct expected when dealing with clients, insurers, colleagues, and the public.
The course is based on the RIBO Code of Conduct under Regulation 991, the definition of misconduct, and RIBO guidance on the Fair Treatment of Customers. Learners will examine common ethical situations and learn how to recognize conflicts, make appropriate disclosures, act within their competence, protect confidential information, and determine when an issue should be referred, declined, corrected, or escalated.
