Course Description

Category Credits: 1 Financial Planning Credit for FP Canada + 1 Professional Development Credit for MFDA

The Government of Canada ensures that seniors can lead a reasonable life in retirement. The Government has two types of pensions, the Old Age Security and the Canada Pension Plan. Both are described with reference to eligibility, amount of payment and how to maximize the benefits. Then company pension plans are elaborated, since the Government monitors the company pensions to ensure it meets the criteria. The plans may be based on a formula and called defined benefit. The other type of pension plan is a defined contribution plan, where the decisions of the client and investment returns affect the pension.  Tax free savings account is another type of account that the Government grants benefits in investment. 


Students must pass the final exam before a certificate will be issued.
