How do you get a level 1 insurance license in Saskatchewan?
There are 2 paths to getting your Level 1 license in SK. You can take the Fundamentals of Insurance (FOI) or CAIB 1 exam. The FOI exam is the recommended path because it is easier to pass and more cost-effective. Regardless of which path you choose to take, our SK 1 course prepares you to pass quickly, affordably and easily.
How does the Saskatchewan insurance licensing process differ from Alberta or Ontario?
Alberta requires students to take a course with an approved provider first, whereas there is no such requirement in Saskatchewan. Alberta and Ontario also uses its own unique curriculum, whereas Saskatchewan follows the same process and curriculum as other parts of Canada.
Can I use this course to get licensed in another province?
No. If you plan to get licensed in another province, you should take the course specifically designed for that province, as there is additional information in the SK course that isn’t required for other provinces. If you already hold an SK license, you can simply apply for a license in any other province (except Ontario) by filling out some paperwork. In Ontario, RIBO will require you to write their Equivalency Exam
.
What topics are heavily tested on the exam?
The Saskatchewan Level 1 insurance exam focuses mostly on the rules of insurance, personal insurance, and auto insurance. You can find a more detailed breakdown and other exam tips inside the course.
What job opportunities are available with a Saskatchewan Level 1 license?
As a Level 1 licensee, you can work as an insurance broker selling personal insurance products like auto, home, and tenant insurance or commercial products like business insurance. If you don’t like working with customers or doing sales, there are also administrative or back office roles available. With the rise in work from home (WFH), many positions also offer that option plus flexible hours. More independent commission-based roles are also available for the entrepreneurial types who want to build their own book of business. Whatever you are looking for, PNC Learning offers students job support and mentorship post-graduation.
