  • I don't have a background in insurance. Is this career a good choice for me?

Because working in insurance requires a license, most people don't have any insurance background when they join so you're on an even playing field. That is the great thing about this certification - there are no real prerequisites to be eligible. What matters is that you have the drive and motivation to get into this industry. We will teach you everything you need to know to start in this secure and high-paying career path.

  • What job opportunities and salary can I expect after passing a Level 1 exam?

The possible jobs and compensation are limitless as you can earn a combination of salary, commissions and bonuses and the job security is unparalleled. If you prefer a more stable role, you can work as an account manager or in a back office administrative role. If you like working with people or are more entrepreneurial, you can work in a sales role and even build your own book of business as an independent producer which you can sell later on. Eventually, you can start your own brokerage as well! No matter what you preferences or skillset is, there is a lucrative job for you in insurance.

As for salaries, here is what you can expect according to Salaryexpert.com & Ziprecruiter.com

Salaryexpert.com says that the average insurance broker in Canada earns $104,427/yr and in the average insurance brokers in Ontario earn a salary of $83,735/yr.

According to Ziprecruiter.com, insurance brokers in Alberta earn an average salary of $82,609/yr

As you can see, this is a pretty well-paying job!

  • Which insurance license is the hardest to get?

Most people consider the RIBO 1 exam the hardest because it requires 75% to pass while others only require 70%. But the Level 1 exams are all multiple choice and designed to be manageable by anyone. The key will be in how you prepare. • What is the difference between OTL, RIBO, and CAIB certifications?

An OTL is for insurance agents in Ontario. This license allows you to represent 1 insurer and sell their products. A RIBO license is for insurance brokers in Ontario that present and sell products for multiple insurance companies. CAIB, while used for licensing in other provinces outside of ON & AB, is mostly cosmetic. A CAIB designation is earned by completing all 4 CAIB exams and signals to employers and customers that you are an expert broker with advanced training.

Yes, if you signed up for the wrong course by accident or end up moving provinces before you can complete the program, we can switch your course enrollment. Fees may apply on a case-by-case basis but reach out to us and we can get that started for you.
